May the sun shine, all day long,
everything go right, and nothing wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may all the wishes you wish come true!
One of the things I most look forward to in the month of March is St. Patrick’s Day. As green is one of my favorite colors and [a tiny bit] Irish I am, I really enjoy celebrating with festive green decor. Since my craft closet is bursting with wreath forms waiting to become something spectacular, I decided to design a St. Patrick’s Day wreath to adorn one of our doors this season.
I started with a grapevine wreath form and some internet inspiration, but really found most of my ideas after perusing the nearby craft store’s St. Patrick’s Day selections. My first idea involved painting wooden shamrocks (which I could not find except on Amazon). As I am impatient and did not want to pay for shipping, I decided to move on and come up with a new idea. It struck me – felt flowers! I have used felt flowers before on another wreath and they turned out wonderfully. This time, I wanted to diversify and use a few different greens and a multitude of flowers designs. I also located the perfect sized wooden plaque during my craft store venture and grabbed some great paints so that I could let out my inner artist (ha!). Here is what I started with:
This project began with 9 sheets of 3 different colors of green felt and ended with 14 unique green flowers and almost 3 sheets of felt leftover! I love how easy it is to make something beautiful out of felt and hot glue.
When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day, there are a plethora of phrases to choose from. Having a tough time deciding, I went with the favorite of my husband: Top O’ the Mornin’. If only my inner artist could paint letters and do the phrase and wreath justice (you will notice I have chosen to not put a close up shot of the painted plaque!). I hope you enjoy the finished project and it inspires you to make something green and gold in your celebration of St. Patrick’s Day too. I cannot wait to hang it on our front door!
May your troubles be less,
And your blessing be more.
And nothing but happiness,
Come through your door.
